Driving Instructors Need More Than Standard Insurance

Insurance

When in their vehicles, driving instructors are not only responsible for their own safety; they are also responsible for the safety of their student drivers. In order for both instructor and student to be fully protected, driving instructor insurance is needed.

Different to Standard Insurance

For a driving instructor, standard car insurance isn’t enough. In the event of an accident, the student driver would not be covered. ADI insurance provides similar coverage to standard car insurance (fire, theft, accidents etc.). However, unlike standard insurance, instructor insurance will provide cover for the pupil driving the vehicle without them having to be named on the policy.

Peace of Mind

During a driving lesson, the risk of an accident occurring is much higher than when an experienced driver is behind the wheel. This is why instructor insurance is so important. It can provide peace of mind to both the teacher and student during what can be a stressful time. Some policies can even cover instructors when they are teaching in their pupil’s cars.

Replacement Vehicle

For driving instructors, their car is their livelihood. If it was to be put out of action because of a fire, theft or accident, it could mean they have weeks, or even months, without working. This could put a severe strain on an instructor’s pocket. Thankfully, an instructor insurance policy can provide them with a replacement dual-control vehicle. This means that they can keep working even if their own vehicle is being repaired.
