The Working Of Solar Panels

Solar Panels

Solar energy is made from the sun. Solar panels are also called PV panels and they are used to convert the sun’s rays into some other useful form of energy that energy is made up of tiny energy particles known as photons. Solar panels are not only used for making electrical energy yet there could be so many other uses of solar panels which may include making remote systems for cabins and remote sensing. It is also used for generating the tools for telecommunication last but not least; solar panels could be used for generating resources of electricity not only for home use but also for the sake of commercial usage.

There was a time when people knew about solar power companies but they couldn’t find one. But now there are so many options available for them to buy a solar panel to generate energy resources.

The solar panel is a device that is used to convert the energy coming from the sun. This energy is converted into electrical energy. The solar panel is made up of a number of solar cells which are connected with parallel and series configurations. The sun has excessive energy which is enough to fulfil all human needs. Solar panel is used as an alternative to the other energy sources and it has got high level of development within the last few decades. Solar panel is cost-saving and a nature-friendly resource that helps in lessening the use of other energy resources.

Solar cells in a solar panel work on the pattern of the photoelectric theory presented by Elbert Einstein. This theory states that the waves of light are based on small bundles of energy which are called protons. But the basic thing to know before understanding the working of solar panels is the physical structure of the solar cells and panels. A solar cell is a device that is made from two or more than two layers which are different and those layers form junctions. Theses junctions give a response to different wavelengths of light. Sunlight consists of the small packets of protons. The sun produces more than 1000 watts per meter per square.

When the protons present in the sunlight hits the solar cell surface, the electrons are separated and they are free. Due to this effect, a situation is formed where at the electric field of the junction, the electrons starts getting attracted by the junction. These electrons are attracted from one side to the other and thus they move from the n-type side to the p-type side. This flow of electrons due to the attraction to the junction from one side to the other becomes the reason for the electric current generation.

Every solar cell generates voltage and voltages are smaller and could not be used particularly. Because of the small voltage, a lot of solar cells are connected with each other and thus a solar panel is formed so that electrical energy in a useful amount can be generated. Single unit of current generated by one solar cell is of 0.2A on 1.2V which gives the maximum output of .24W. Simply connected a lot of solar cells make a solar panel but if a lot of solar panels are combined they make modules.
